JSE Officially Establishes the “Best Paper Award” | Best Paper 2027
To recognize the outstanding contributions of authors of the Journal of Seismic Exploration (JSE) in the field of geophysics and to encourage more scholars to submit high-quality papers to JSE, the JSE Editorial Office has established the “Best Paper Award” (Best Paper 2027). The details of the award review are announced as follows:
1. Eligible Papers
All papers published in Issues 1–6 of JSE in 2025.
2. Number of Awards
Two Best Papers will be selected.
3. Award Benefits
Each winning paper will receive:
(1) USD 200;
(2) A certificate;
(3) One full APC waiver. Within one year from the date of the award announcement, the awardee(s) could publish one paper in JSE free of charge, provided that the paper successfully passes JSE’s regular peer-review process.
4. Announcement Date
The winners of “Best Paper 2027” will be announced on 25 June 2027 (the last Friday of June).
5. Review Committee
The “Best Paper 2027” Review Committee consists of Suping Peng, Arthur B. Weglein, and Jing Ba. The review will comprehensively consider the following criteria:
(1) Originality of the paper;
(2) Rigorous research design and unique methodology;
(3) Logical rigor and clear, standard writing;
(4) Good academic reputation of the authors and no record of academic misconduct;
(5) Download and citation counts.
6. Review Process
(1) The JSE Editorial Office will conduct an eligibility review of all papers published in Issues 1–6 of JSE in 2025 and compile a list of candidate papers;
(2) The Review Committee will evaluate the candidates according to the above criteria;
(3) Two Best Papers will be determined;
(4) The proposed winning papers will be publicly announced for a comment period. If no objections are raised, the final results will be officially announced;
(5) The awards will be presented.
